Ground Zero In The Blavatnik Building, Tate Modern, By Herzog & De Meuron

After widely discussed public criticism of the Tate for deciding on the retainment and conversion of the tired Bankside Powerstation, it left a daunting task at hand for the architects taking on this project. 

Herzog & De Meuron took the task at hand and far exceeded any expectation for the building. Maintaining the structures industrial character they developed an atmospheric space that on face value seemed to propose little change but in reality, had maximum impact. The drama created by the talented duo is unrivalled and with our personal love of brutal and industrial architecture, we are huge fans of this space.
